Allergy and Immunology

Specialists in the Rutgers Health Allergy and Immunology program provide comprehensive, compassionate care and a full range of services for adults and children. Patients visit us for treatment of common and unusual allergic/immunologic problems, or to receive vaccinations through our International Traveler's Consultation and Immunization program.

The Rutgers Health Allergy and Immunology program offers many services for adults and children, whether for sensitivity to airborne or food allergens, skin irritations, or immunodeficiencies. We also see patients with frequent infections and immune disorders.

Our program also has research and clinical expertise in unusual and hard-to-manage cases with immunodeficiency, anaphylaxis, recalcitrant asthma, and reactions to drugs.

Some of the allergy testing methods we employ include:

  • Drug challenges/desensitization
  • Food challenges
  • Patch testing (for contact dermatitis)
  • Rhinolaryngoscopy (also known as nasal endoscopy)
  • Skin biopsies
  • Spirometry

Should a patient need immunotherapy (allergy shots), our program can administer the therapy on site. We can also prepare vials for private physicians to administer the shots in their offices.

Our physicians are on the faculty of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School or Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Both are part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are active in research and in teaching about all aspects of allergy and immunology, and each brings life-changing knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.

If you or a loved one has allergy or immunology concerns, please make an appointment to visit the Rutgers Health Allergy and Immunology program. We take pride in helping our patients overcome allergies so they can feel their best.
