Flu Season is Over
April 2, 2024
Dear Colleagues,
The New Jersey Department of Health is reporting that flu activity has fallen to low levels throughout the state. Therefore, the university has determined that Flu Season within the meaning of University Policy 100.3.1 is over, effective today.
The intent of Policy 100.3.1 is to enhance the safety of our patients, visitors, clinical faculty, and staff, and protect them from exposure to seasonal influenza while at Rutgers University facilities. In declaring that Flu Season will end, the university has determined that all Covered Individuals (as defined by Policy 100.3.1) are no longer required starting April 2, 2024 to obtain additional seasonal influenza vaccines for the 2023-24 flu season. Of course, all Covered Individuals will still be required to obtain a seasonal influenza vaccine for the next Flu Season, consistent with Policy 100.3.1.
As with the possibility of exposure to all airborne viruses and other conditions, our clinical professionals are still encouraged to exercise caution and observe medical protocols when encountering potentially hazardous situations. This includes promoting good hand hygiene, encouraging sick co-workers to stay home, and routinely cleaning commonly shared items.
Thank you to everyone who helped Rutgers University battle the flu again this season. As always, we wish you continued good health.
Wishing you good health.
