Postdoc Found His Love for Research in a Rutgers Lab

Satvik Mareedu always thought he would pursue a career in dentistry abroad, but he quickly realized his heart was in research.

After getting his first hands-on lab experience while in graduate school at Rutgers, Satvik went on to pursue his PhD here and is now a postdoc in the Del Re Lab at New Jersey Medical School, researching heart health and metabolism. Recently, he received a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association.

At Rutgers, he received a world-class education and much more: supportive mentors, access to the latest software and technology, illuminating workshops, and the chance to join an exclusive network of like-minded scholars. The university also provides unique programs designed to help postdocs on their career path, which in Satvik’s case means a faculty research position.

“The opportunities at Rutgers Health have allowed me to quickly advance in my technical skills and in my career,” he said. “These are exactly what you need to develop professionally.”
