RBHS Strategic Plan Launch

Dear RBHS Faculty, Staff, Students, and Trainees:

I am very pleased to share with you the RBHS Strategic Plan (2022-2027) – ONE RBHS: The Way Forward.

This ambitious road map builds upon your many accomplishments and proposes new and exciting avenues as we drive toward our vision to be a model for health care access and quality, research, interprofessional education, and community engagement within the next five years. Though high reaching in its aims, the plan is not singularly focused on our destination, but also how we will get there. Efforts to strengthen our collective identity, build connections across disciplines and mission areas, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion will be central to our journey.

I urge you to explore the plan website and download the document in order to become familiar with our priorities and begin to consider how you can contribute to advancing our five unifying theme and four mission-based goals. Several committees will be working on the implementation plan that will include defining criteria for assessing the strategic plan, monitoring its progress, and making adjustments as needed – as it is intended to be a living document.

Please also join me, President Holloway, and Dean Gwendolyn Mahon, co-chair of the plan’s steering committee, for our ONE RBHS: The Way Forward Launch Event live webinar at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 22, to hear more and learn how you can participate in ensuring our collective success.

I am extremely grateful for the exceptional and hard work carried out by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee (co-chaired by Dean Mahon and Distinguished Professor Sylvia Christakos) and its subcommittees, and the active engagement and feedback offered by more than 2,000 participants from the entire RBHS community. Through multiple town hall meetings, numerous survey responses, and countless meetings with key stakeholders and leaders from across the university, as well as partners such as RWJBarnabas Health, University Hospital in Newark, VA New Jersey Healthcare System, and the state, your input has been critical to the development and completion of this exciting plan.

We are an extraordinary community of faculty, staff, students, trainees, health care professionals, and scientists who strive every day to enhance the quality of health care across our communities and make the world a healthier place through research, innovation, and the application of life-changing discoveries and treatments. I am confident that this plan will propel and bolster our work and guide us to the highest levels of excellence as ONE RBHS and one of the best academic health centers in the country.
