Responding to the Violence in Israel and Gaza
October 10, 2023
Dear Rutgers Health Community,
This week’s brutal surprise attacks in Israel and counterstrikes in Gaza have caused immense suffering and our hearts go out to all those affected by this conflict.
As clinicians, researchers, educators, and learners, our collective mission at Rutgers Health is to improve health and well-being for all. We seek to alleviate the pain of others and are acutely aware of how distressing it is to witness the tragic loss of life and trauma as these events unfold.
Our Rutgers Health community is built upon the principles of diversity, inclusion, professionalism, and the pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of humanity. We are from all walks of life, cultures, and backgrounds, united in our dedication to making the world well. We value compassion and empathy, and we stand together in solidarity with all those who are suffering in both our global and Rutgers communities.
Please know that you have a network of support here at Rutgers Health through our employee services and mental health resources, we are here for you, and we support you.
Sincerely,
Brian L. Strom, MD, MPH
Chancellor, RBHS
