Invisible Scars: Trauma, Suicide Risk and Recovery
This presentation, featuring Giovanna Giacobbe, MSW, highlights the often-overlooked role of psychological trauma in suicide risk, showing how chronic, early, or invisible trauma disrupts emotional regulation, cognition, and care engagement. Participants will gain insight into how these invisible wounds contribute to suicidal thoughts and behavior, the neurobiological mechanisms involved, and pathways to recovery through evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches. Practical strategies will be shared for applying trauma-informed care in suicide prevention and clinical practice.
Audience: Healthcare providers and health care educators
