Integration Update: December 2023
December 19, 2023
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to share with you a Framework for Integration: Rutgers School of Medicine Planning Structure and to invite your participation in this next step of the integration process.
On July 10, 2023, the Rutgers University Board of Governors voted to seek a combined accreditation between New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). The merged school will be known as Rutgers School of Medicine. This will create a stronger education program to meet the challenges of the future and strengthen our missions to benefit our communities and all of New Jersey.
We are actively seeking participation from the medical school communities to join our Integration Task Forces. The Integration Task Forces will be organized around cross-cutting areas of importance, including research mission, clinical mission, community engagement, graduate programs, communications and IT, and staff, faculty, and student experience.
This is a new opportunity to contribute your viewpoint and talents toward building the best possible medical school community for Rutgers School of Medicine. Sign up here to nominate yourself or someone else to join a task force. Deadline for signups is Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024. Leadership will select the final roster for task forces from the slate of nominated candidates, and additional task forces will be added as needed.
We will continue to provide regular updates through our websites, town hall meetings, and other channels. There will continue to be opportunities to provide feedback through our website, Our Future: Rutgers School of Medicine.
Thank you for sharing your strengths and your insights in this next phase of our integration.
Sincerely,
Amy P. Murtha, MD
