Leading the Way

Manifesting the Vision

Chancellor Strom embodies the vision and direction essential to advancing Rutgers Health's critical mission of providing exceptional health care, education, training, and research. In his health affairs role, he also serves as a key advisor and esteemed practitioner responsible for the health and well-being of the Rutgers community.

Under Chancellor Strom's leadership, Rutgers Health has established a new model for health care and community service and has grown to become one of the most respected academic health centers in the nation by providing exceptional opportunities, driving unprecedented innovation, and improving lives.

History in the Making

In July 2013, Rutgers integrated with most of the units of the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, thereby establishing Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and positioning Rutgers as one of the country’s largest academic institutions to provide health sciences education, research, and clinical service and care. This transformational growth stayed strong with the 2018 clinical affiliation between Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health.

Moving into the future as Rutgers Health, we are continuing to build a world-class academic health system dedicated to life-changing research, clinical training of tomorrow’s workforce, and quality health care for all.
