Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 4, 2023

Dear Rutgers Health Community,

Rutgers Health continues its commitment to build a culture of respect by recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a public health issue that impacts individuals, loved ones, and communities. This month, we honor survivors who have experienced relationship violence and speak up against harassing, controlling, and/or abusive behaviors.

The Office for Violence Prevention & Victim Assistance (VPVA) is hosting programming to bring awareness to these issues throughout October. We invite everyone in the Rutgers Health community to reflect on ways to uplift healthy relationships and to address attitudes that support the cycle of abuse. Rutgers believes that having these conversations empowers everyone within our institution to engage in active prevention and to support those who need it most.

For more on how you can participate in this month’s activities, visit our website.

Also consider adding a DVAM graphic to your email signature block.

We know that violence thrives in silence, so we ask all Rutgers Health members to intervene against harmful behaviors. For survivors, we remind you that you are not alone and that we have resources to help you. For more on support services, call or text VPVA at 973-972-4636.

Thank you for doing your part to contribute to a campus community that prioritizes safety and well-being.
